Modu-Loc Named a Platinum Club Winner of the Best Managed Companies Program

March 5, 2020

We are incredibly proud to announce that Modu-Loc has been named a Platinum Club winner of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. This marks Modu-Loc’s seventh year as a Best Managed company. Modu-Loc first qualified for Best Managed status in 2014, and became a Gold Standard winner in 2017.

Platinum is used as a tier or standard in many programs due to the desirable qualities of the metal. Interestingly, when we think of the qualities of platinum, we can’t help but notice that they relate to the qualities we try to uphold here at Modu-Loc. In fact, there is some overlap between the characteristics of platinum and several of our Core Values:

Integrity & Trust

Platinum possesses excellent resistance to corrosion, and wear and tear. This integrity makes it useful in both industrial applications and as fine jewelry.

At Modu-Loc, Integrity & Trust means that we will uphold our values regardless of external pressures that might try to erode them. It means doing the right thing, even if it isn’t the easiest thing to do. The way we demonstrate Integrity & Trust is by operating with honesty, transparency, and regard for our customers, vendors, and employees.

Stability & Dependability

For Modu-Loc, Stability & Dependability refers to the consistency of our product and service, and the reliability of our teams. It means that our customers can depend on us to meet or exceed their expectations, at every stage of the process and on every job. When it comes to our employees, it refers to the provision of a safe and stable work environment.

Similarly, platinum is known for its chemical stability. In fact, it is one of the least reactive metals – even at high temperatures – and is therefore considered a noble metal.

Vision & Innovation

Platinum is ductile and malleable, meaning it can go through significant physical manipulation without fracturing or breaking. This refers to its plasticity, which we relate to adaptability. The fact that platinum can be manipulated and adapted to suit a number of different applications reminds us of innovation.

At Modu-Loc, our commitment to Vision & Innovation translates into a tendency to challenge the status quo. This requires a great deal of flexibility and adaptability, as we must be willing to do things differently than we’ve always done them. We are an organization that likes to explore in order to find the best possible solution for a problem. Our goal is to lead the industry by proactively addressing the needs of our customers.

Our Core Values serve as the guiding principles for every one of our employees, from our front-line staff to our executive team. They exist to ensure that we are always making the best decisions for our customers, our employees, and the future of Modu-Loc. We firmly believe that our Core Values helped propel us down the path of becoming a Platinum Club winner of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the dedication and hard work of our team members. Our Best Managed designation reflects the contributions of each and every Modu-Loc team member who lives and breathes our Core Values every day. We truly could not have earned this prestigious award without the efforts of all of our employees at each of our depots across Canada.

We wish to thank all of our employees for their hard work, devotion, ingenuity, and eagerness to go the extra mile. These qualities are not only acknowledged and appreciated by all of us at Modu-Loc, but also by our customers and partners. Thank you to the panel of judges who deemed Modu-Loc worthy of becoming a Platinum Club member and seven-time Best Managed Company!

About Canada’s Best Managed Companies

Canada’s Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $15 million. Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices.

The awards are granted on four levels:

1) Canada’s Best Managed Companies new winner (one of the new winners selected each year);

2) Canada’s Best Managed Companies winner (award recipients that have re-applied and successfully retained their Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review);

3) Gold Standard winner (after three consecutive years of maintaining their Best Managed status, these winners have demonstrated their commitment to the program and successfully retained their award for 4-6 consecutive years);

4) Platinum Club member (winners that have maintained their Best Managed status for seven years or more).

Program sponsors are Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, TMX Group and MacKay CEO Forums. For further information, visit www.bestmanagedcompanies.ca.
